Academic Exchange Program
World Educational Services Foundation

Academic Exchange Program Photo he WES Foundation operates bilateral Academic Exchange Programs. These programs are designed for high school students age 15 to 17 who want to experience a new culture firsthand by living as a member of a host family while attending school for 5 or 10 months.

Exchange program participants receive orientation and guidance before the program begins, as well as counseling and support services during the program to help them throughout this experience. Applicants are selected to participate in the WES Academic Exchange Program because of their commitment to cross-cultural learning and their ability to effectively represent their countries and the WES program.

Host families are carefully screened to ensure a wholesome living environment for the student. WES students and their host families are supervised throughout the program by WES Local Coordinators supported by experienced Regional Coordinators.

Inbound Program to the U.S.: Students selected to the U.S. are required to have a functional level of English and be prepared to live with a host family in a small American community.

Outbound Program: The outbound program offers U.S. students the same opportunity for cultural exchange outside the U.S. as that offered to students who come to the U.S. from other countries. Language proficiency is not a requirement to most foreign countries.
